Get Your Board On Board With Fundraising

Does this sound familiar? "I'll do anything…except ask for money."

Your board members want to make a difference. Yet, many don't know how to help in a meaningful way.

And when they're expected to fundraise, they often lack the experience and oftentimes, the confidence. So they resist being involved in this important process.

Yet, with a little training, direction, and support, everyone can help raise money for the causes they love.

Third Sector Consulting workshops are high-touch, interactive sessions that are tailored for smaller groups.

Sessions range from 60 minutes to full day, depending on need.

SAMPLE AGENDA

Actual topics and exercises will vary based on your specific needs.

  1. What is "fundraising?"
The dreaded F- word. We'll start by defining fundraising – what it is and what it isn't.
  2. Understanding the cycle of fundraising.
There's more to fundraising than asking. In fact, asking is one of the last things you do.
  3. Who's really responsible for fundraising? Isn't that someone else's job?
Everyone in the organization plays a role in the fundraising process. Do you know yours?
  4. Who gives to charity? Why and how do they give?
Understanding donor behavior and what motivates people to give – and give more.
  5. Finding new donors and getting the first gift.
Donor identification and the role of demographics when reaching out to prospects.
  6. Keeping the donors you already have – and getting them to give more.
Stewardship strategies, donor retention tips and how to increase a donor's lifetime value.
  7. Appeals, events and grants, oh my!
What fundraising activities are most effective, and which are right for your organization?
  8. What's a "major gift?"
The definition is the same, but every organization has a different number. What's yours?
  9. Conversational fundraising.
Learn how to ask prospective donors the right questions before you ask for support.
  10. Get your board "on board" with fundraising.
Create personal commitment plans and make a pledge to raise more money together!
